When you start thinking about heat pump / air conditioner the very first point coming in your mind is that which type of heat pump / air conditioner can fit into your space as a perfect match along with complementing the ambience of your space. Since its not only the comfort but appearance also matters equally.
You can choose the type of heat pump that meets your requirements gracefully along with energy efficiency.
TYPES OF HEAT PUMPS
1. HIGH WALL HEAT PUMP / AIR CONDITIONER
As the name suggests heat pump / aircon that can be installed high on the wall are known as high wall/wall-mounted air conditioners. High wall type is the maximum used heat pump as most of the spaces have enough height of the wall to hang heat pump / air conditioner. Heating & cooling both are efficient for these heat pumps.
However, cooling is comparatively more effective than heating as the heat pump is mounted at a height on the wall so it blows out the cool air over your head or towards the ceiling which slowly settles down and cools down the space uniformly and efficiently.

2. FLOOR CONSOLE HEAT PUMP / AIR CONDITIONER
The floor console heat pump is designed by focusing on less usage of the wall to mount for the indoor units as it can be semi-recessed in the wall cavity and the outdoor unit is placed at the exterior of the home. Floor standing heat pump / aircons is effective in both heating & cooling solutions. However, they are more specialised in heating as heat always rises from bottom to top like towards the ceiling.
Being a floor-standing heat pump / aircon, floor console starts blowing the hot air towards the floor area & with time heat starts rising and distributes equally in the whole area or space which gives warmth and comfort in winter. In some cases, where hi-wall heat pumps / aircons are not feasible to install because of the structure of the house, floor consoles are a good option for heating & cooling solutions. This type of heat pump has its importance in HVAC world due to its compact size and heating efficiency.

3. CEILING CASSETTE HEAT PUMP / AIR CONDITIONER
Ceiling Cassette heat pump / air conditioner units are very flushed to ceiling units with 4-way air inlets and air suction grill at the middle of those 4 air-inlet vents. This kind of heatpump / aircon unit is popular in gyms, cafeterias, reception areas and food & grocery stores especially where there is an open space or open plan area with limited wall space. The ceiling cassette blows the hot/cool air evenly in all four directions. However, cooling is more effective in this type of unit due to the ceiling mount nature of cooling starts settling down in each corner of the space & gives the desired indoor temperature.
Ceiling Cassettes aircon units are manufactured in such a way that they come with a built-in drain pump on the indoor unit & blue fin coating which acts as an anti-corrosion for both indoor and outdoor units, especially in sea-side areas (due to salt & sulphur contents in the air leading to corrosion)

4. MULTI-ROOM HEAT PUMP / AIR CONDITIONER
Multi-split heat pump / air conditioner is known for its multiple indoor units with one compressor(outdoor) unit. This type of heat pump / air conditioner covers the whole house or multiple areas of the home and gives the best heating & cooling solutions with different temperature range allowances on the same modes in different areas.
The main difference between a ducted heat pump and a multi-split heat pump is to optionally operate the system in the required room which is available with a multi-room heat pump system. On the other hand, in a ducted heat pump system all the areas will get hot/cool air once the system is ON until zone controlling is introduced to the system.

5. DUCTED SYSTEM HEAT PUMP / AIR CONDITIONER
Currently, a Ducted heat pump / air conditioner is very popular as it provides whole-house heating & cooling solutions with minimal visible parts of the heat pump. In the central heat pump / aircon only circular diffusers or grilles (air inlets), return grille with hinge filter(suction of air for circulation), and wired controller on the wall are visible inside the home.
The indoor unit is flushed in the ceiling cavity with all the ductings and the outdoor unit is placed outside the house. Add-on benefits for ducted systems are minimizing humidity and dampness from the whole house at the press of a button. Moreover, zone-controlling technology is introduced in central systems to control the temperatures zone-wise which proves to be highly cost-effective & provides us with heating and cooling solutions wherever it’s required.
